Meant for Two

alessiahughes97

Sailing through the waves with you

Is all that I can remember and

You are the most vivid part.

Still, I can’t remember what

You looked like,

Yet I still feel

The moments we laughed.

It was at the same time

That we caught the wind in our sails,

That I saw you were

The one my soul yearns for,

The one my mind thinks of,

So come back to me.

Through the waves,

three years brought the world.

I didn’t know anything better

I wonder if there is

When I can’t see you smiling

And can’t catch you looking at me

I pray that missing you won’t hurt,

That if we do meet again,

It feels the same.

The boat fits only two—

We sail through the water

As if it’s a dance—

You lead me around

As the water sprays

And the wind moves us.

But we always reach land—

Sometimes you get off,

Sometimes I don’t.

And the wind blows us apart

As the boat meant for two

Leaves with only one.
