Saved Me

His hands reach for me

As I fall and he catches me,

Effortlessly and without fear.

He wipes my tears and his body

Becomes my solace and guard

In the dangerous unknown

Of the Scottish highlands.

I feel safe with him near me

And knowing he gave it all to me,

I trust him with my life,

For he’s saved me more than once.

He stands between myself and danger,

He clutches onto my arm,

And pulls me away,

With a small window of time to spare.

As close as I get,

I know I’ll never find the end,

Because even as the darkest

Nights get darker,

I find him looking at me,

Turning hell over for me,

And he’s saved me again.

In the storms and in the droughts,

When I’ve lost it all,

Even if it seems him, too,

He’s given himself to me,

And his body always finds mine.

If I only reach out,

His hands will find me,

For he’s saved me—

And every night, I remember

As I lay huddled in his warmth,

I have nothing to fear

In the damp stones and mossy hills,

For he’s saved me more than once.
